Objective:
To enable
non-financial managers to master the concepts used to make financial
decisions in the management of business operations. To provide
participants with a working knowledge of relevant financial tools so
that they can read and understand commonly used financial statements and
meaningfully participate in such key management activities as financing,
strategic planning and budgeting.
Methodology:
We
combine materials, media and group dynamics to
reinforce key points and raise retention far above that provided by
either lecture or reading material alone. Concepts are presented in
plain, non-technical language, and are often described in terms of their
relevance to familiar operations within the participants particular
industry company.
- Materials. Relevant notes, resource information,
program topic outlines, exercise instructions, and copies of slides
in a 3-ring binder tabbed for easy reference.
-
Media. Concise & colorful
overhead slides serve to highlight key points as the seminar
progresses.
-
Group Dynamics. Specially designed participation
exercises effectively reinforce how the tools get used. A high ratio
of seminar leader time per participant and ample Q & A
opportunities ensure individual issues and concerns are addressed.
Format:
Each program is customized for the intended audience based on their
collective level of prior knowledge and their industry. Topics are
organized into sessions, or half-day mini-seminars.
Each session
includes:
- Review and Q&A on the previous session (the first
session begins with a program overview).
- Topic of the Day is explained and discussed, with
special reference to how it pertains to and is utilized by the
particular industry in question.
- Participative exercises, working individually or in
small groups, offer hands-on opportunities to apply the Topic to
management problems or to the creation of a skeleton planning document
for their department or company as a whole.
- Q&A on the Topic refines and attempts to resolve
individuals concerns
- Review of key points essential to meet seminar
objectives.
- Preview next Topic (briefly) to prepare for upcoming
